Conference Case Study

The Thirteenth International World Muscle Society congress was hosted in NewcastleGateshead in September 2008. The event used the split site venues on Gateshead Quays of The Sage Gateshead and Hilton Hotel. Multiple hotels across the city region were utilised by delegates, and the social programme visited the stunning venues of the Discovery Museum and Alnwick Castle.

The WMS congress provides a multidisciplinary scientific forum to advance and disseminate knowledge in the neuromuscular field. Previous destinations of congress have included Kruger National Park, South Africa and Iguassu Falls, Brazil. Experts from around the globe gave a range of lectures, plenary sessions, workshops and debates, enabling the exchange of knowledge and information.
